Mother's Day Crafts for Kids to Make

Fun Crafts that Kids Can Make and Give

Show mom how special she is with these delightful Mother's Day gifts you make yourself.

Mother's Day is a holiday on which everyone lets Mom know how special and important she is to them. And while every mother enjoys getting gifts from her children, she loves handmade gifts. Making your gift for mom says you took the time to plan and lovingly create her gift. Here are some great ideas for gifts you can make and give to mom this Mother's Day.

Stenciled Baskets

You will need:

  • stencils (choose a design she likes)
  • wooden or wicker basket
  • brushes

What You Do:

Stencil the design around the edge of the basket. You can add the words "I Love You, Mom" on the front if you like. Spray with a clear sealing shellac.

Rose Scented Bath Salts for Mom

You will need:

  • Epsom salts
  • essential oil – rose (or your mom's favorite scent)
  • red food coloring
  • pretty container

What you do:

Add a drop or two of the essential oils to 1 cup of Epsom salts. Next add a few drops of the red food coloring. Shake well and check the color and scent. Add more essential oil and food coloring until bath salts are the color you want and the scent is pleasant but not to strong.

Place the colorful scented bath salts into a pretty container. Add a ribbon and note and you have a quick and easy gift for mom.

Coupon Book Just for Mom

You will need:

  • construction paper or card stock
  • markers
  • stickers
  • stapler

What you do:

Cut out several coupons from the construction paper or card stock. Make them all the same size. Write on each coupon what it is for. Here are some ideas:

  • One night free dish washing
  • A free back massage
  • One hour all to yourself
  • Good for one free hug

Now make a cover and back for your coupon book. Decorate the cover and the coupons with stickers. Stack them together and staple on one end to form a book. Place in a pretty envelope and give to mom along with a bouquet of flowers.

Make Mom Feel Special

These are just a few ideas for making mom feel special. You can add your own to them. For example, you might make the stenciled bowl line it with a pretty cloth and fill it with fruit or flowers. Make her the scented bath salts and coupon book. Place them in the stenciled basket along with a few other goodies and give them to her on Mother's Day. Be creative with your gift giving. Your mom will love the fact that you took the time to not only give her a gift but to make it especially for her. So make mom a handcrafted gift this year she will appreciate and use throughout the coming year.
